You Are Not a Body!

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.--I Thessalonians 5:23, NIV

Our bodies are very important, of course. Without them, we would not have the legal right to be on earth. Even the LORD Jesus had to have a human body in order to operate on earth (Hebrews 10:5)!

However, we are not our bodies! The real us is a spirit, which was created by and comes out of God, Elohim--the Creator and Sustainer of all life (Genesis 1).

13 For you, brethren, were [indeed] called to freedom; only [do not let your] freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse [for selfishness], but through love you should serve one another....16 But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). 17 For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do. 18 But if you are guided (led) by the [Holy] Spirit, you are not subject to the Law. --Galatians 5:13 and 16-18, AMPC

Our spirits came from God, but need to be regenerated--fused with the Spirit of Jesus Christ, which is what many called being "born again" (reborn of the Spirit). Once we are born again, we have new life in Christ, and our spirits are sealed so that, when our bodies die (120 years or sooner, according to Genesis 6:3), our spirits will go to live in peace and perfection with the LORD in Heaven. Hallelujah!

Once our spirits are born again, Jesus comes into our heart and starts working lovingly and patiently and mercifully with us to help us know His ways and be more like Him--and the more we do, the better life we have on earth! His Plan is for us to have days of Heaven on earth, which was His Plan to start with, when He created the Garden of Eden and put mankind into it!

The challenge comes when our spirits--in tune with the perfect will of God, once we receive Christ Jesus as our Savior and LORD (John 3:14-17)--are against what our souls (mind, will, and emotions) and bodies want to do. We have to learn how to yield to the Holy Spirit (Who leads us into all Truth, for He is the Spirit of Truth).

But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].--John 16:13, AMPC

Whatever struggle you have in your life, the LORD is more than enough to help you. He loves you! Jesus, Who was crucified on the cross for every wrong of every person for all time (We cannot even comprehend that!), was dead for three days, then He was resurrected to new life, and lives forever, ruling in Heaven at the right hand of God! Hallelujah! He is the ultimate Overcomer!

He will help you overcome every trial and temptation, every wrong thing, as you ask and let Him.

We are all in need of a Savior, and we need His help every day. Ask Him to help you, and He surely will! Ask Him to also help you realize when He is helping you, and you will soon notice good changes. It may start with you becoming more aware of what you need to change (Proverbs 3:12 and Hebrews 12:6), which is not pleasant, but which is part of God's awesome love for you, as His child (Once you have received Christ Jesus His Son as your Savior and LORD, of course.).

Making those changes can be hard on the body and soul, but they are so worth it, to let your spirit--one with Christ when you have been born again by receiving Him as your Savior and LORD--rise up and give you such peace and love and joy and vision that no amount of money could ever buy it!

Great peace have they who love Your law; nothing shall offend them or make them stumble.--Psalm 119:165, AMPC

So your body doesn't tell you--a spirit, one with Christ when you are born again (for you come into the Kingdom of Light and are from that moment a Citizen of Heaven!) what to do. Nor does your mind, will, or emotions get to run your life. You--a spirit united with Christ--yield to the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Jesus) and rule the other two dimensions of your life.

That is when the truest, highest peace, love, joy, strength, grace, freedom, abundance, and every other good thing happen! You can even ask the LORD to help you yield to Him. He is so good, He will help you!

But we are citizens of the state (commonwealth, homeland) which is in heaven, and from it also we earnestly and patiently await [the coming of] the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [as] Savior,--Philiipians 3:20, AMPC
