Study 2 Timothy no. 3

STUDY NO. 2
2 TIM CHAPTER 1 V 1
"... according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus

What a journey I have had would you believe with just this one sentence. In fact it has rested on the word "according".

I have a great fascination with words because behind any word it has an origin. As I checked up the word accord, I found it came from the latin word 'cordis' which means heart. The french meaning of the word 'accordare' means to make agree or be of one heart. What is essential when studying the Word of God is our hearts. The heart of the matter is our relationship with Jesus both yesterday, today and tomorrow.

I truely didn't know where to start, but you see God had the word staring at me in the face. It was the first word but I wanted to skip over this seemingly ordinary word. But 'according' is just where God revealed to me something so henious about how the Word of God is being sabotaged that it stopped me in my tracks in amazement. It has taken nearly two hours just for the Lord to reveal a tiny fragment of how the Word of God has been slowly wrecked, undermined, vandalised and quite honestly, worthy of a treasonable offence. God's Holy Word is from the King of Kings no less. It has been attacked from the quarter of the mind, today they call it humanism.

I spoke to my sister the other day. I had not spoken to her for over nearly 7 years. God pulled me away from my family for the same reasons the enemy is pulling the children of god away from the Truth. My family were destructive, disruptive, and the injury caused to me were quite frankly just like the man who was left for dead until the Good Samaritan came to his rescue. My good samaritan was Jesus Christ himself, in person. The Word made flesh'.

I saw for the first time how the enemy; lucifer, the devil whatever you want to call him is attacking the children of god. Anything but the Truth. Anything but the Word of God. God's Holy Word. There are severe warnings in Revelation about tampering with God's Word.

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book. If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.

"And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. REVELATION 22 v 18-19.

Well we all know what happened to the Pharoah of Egypty don't we? God is able to pour down whatever plague he desires to free his beloved children.

I realise now that a question somebody asked me this evening about mental health and the work of the devil. I didn't know the answer really but I suppose I would have to say now that it is the greatest desire of the enemy to stop believers from living and breathing God's Word as this brings life and healing to both mind, soul and body. God desires for us to have a sound mind. God is in the business of renewing our minds in Christ Jesus.

Only the other night after being tormented by words from so called medical professionals God revealed to me the Truth. "Gods Word is not chained" ironically enough from the study of 2 Timothy. This quote is from Chapter 2 v 9. I realised that Gods Word is to free us! Jesus came to set us free. How the enemy wants us to humanise everything chained to the earth which in the end will be destroyed by God.

When I mentioned about God's grace and love to my sister she she didn't understand these words, in fact she said they were not said in her church. I was shocked. I asked her what kind of church she went to and she said it was very humanistic and peaceful! How the devil fools us. God's peace is the only peace anything else is false. God also revealed to me that she was an unbeliever! Just because someone mentions they are a christian and go to church does not make them a christian. Even the word christian has now lost it's true representation. A follower of Jesus is to follow Jesus and not the church. Follow me He says.

Well on my travels on writing this article I came across the meaning of humanistic thinking. Boy was I in for a surprise!

Here are two simplistic ways to understand the definition of humanism.

Humanism asserts that knowledge of right and wrong is based on the best understanding of one's individual and joint interests.
According (now there is an irony since as I pointed out the meaning of according comes from the word accord meaning heart)! to Humanism it is up to humans to find truth, as opposed to seeking it through revelation. (direct opposition of God's Way).

This is enough information you will ever need to see how the enemy stops believers from knowing their full inheritance from God.

John 10: Jesus the Good Shepherd

"Verily, Verily, I say unto you. He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber" verse 1

"And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers" verse 2

"As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold and one shepherd" verse 16.

"MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, AND I KNOW THEM AND THEY FOLLOW ME" VERSE 27

I have run away all my life, from different abusive situations, my family, my first husband and friends who have threatened my life literally. God has brought me into a spacious place and has firmly planted my feet rooted and established in love in Him. Yes I have been in the wilderness for 45 years and I can honestly say now I know the Shepherds voice. It needs a little tuning in and soaking in Gods love which is His Word to remove all the scratches of the old record. But as I surrender my life, my hurts and my fears honestly into His Hands He guides me as a loving Shepherd.

Just before I finish I will just share with you that as I sat on the bed this afternoon studying. I kept thinking about Elijah and wondering whereabouts he was in bible, I can't even remember why I ended up on this track, but the point was I was struggling in my own strength trying to remember. I was flicking pages, going backwards and forwards until in the end I said 'oh well Lord you obviously don't want me to read it'! At that point 2 Kings popped into my head and as I opened my bible it was the exact page I needed to find about Elijah.

As it was I never really used Elijah as an example in anything except my need to ask God for help straight away instead of struggling in my own strength. Although there is a lot of learn about Elijah and I always loved his absolute obedience to the Lord and what a spectacle he gave unbelievers - fire from heaven itself!

I pray that as you read this God will touch your heart, for it is a heart thing with God. He does not look on the outside of man but on the inside.

I'll leave you with Psalm 51 v 16

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart....."

God saw David's heart and replaced him as King over Saul.

Enter Gods Courts singing and praising Him it is your heart He desires. He will mend all the broken pieces. As I walked the beach this afternoon with my doggie, I saw pieces of broken glass and it reminded me that the tiny speckles of sand were thousand upon thousand pieces of glass.

Psalm 139 v 17 - 18

"How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: ...."

Remember you are precious in Gods sight.

God Bless Jacqui xx
