Cling to Christ

by PamFord Davis
2/23/2022 / Death

I’m not morbid but I look forward to death.

It’s just that the older I get the more peace I feel about passing. Christians don’t pass away; they pass over into Glory Land.

I’m a hugger and there are so many waiting in heaven that I long to embrace. Earlier today, I was thinking of some of those special people that will meet me there.

In heaven, I'll be reunited with grandparents, parents, a sister and close friends. Others of special importance are pastors and teachers who touched my life with Scriptures and mentoring.

Believers will walk and talk with Abraham, Moses, King David, the Apostles and saints of the early church. How can we even imagine such heavenly communication and companionship?

We will embrace one another; yet, we will cling to Christ!

The resurrected Jesus told Mary not to cling to Him; it wasn’t the time or place.

“Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?’ Thinking that He was the gardener, she said to Him, ‘Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you put Him, and I will take Him away.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Mary!’ She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, ‘Rabboni!’ (which means, Teacher). Jesus said to her, ‘Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God (John 20:15-17 NASB).’”

Jesus has ascended.

“This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven (Acts 1:11b NASB).”

I’m waiting.

One day, I will cling to Christ.

I know not when...
