His Healing Touch

When ill, we all need the compassion of care givers.

I had a lot of childhood sickness but my parents each cared for me in their own special ways. Mom gave me medicines and prepared special foods and beverages to settle my upset stomach. It was most often Dad that rubbed my forehead, tummy or an aching back.

Human touch is an instrument of healing.

It would be terrible to have people turn away from you; to purposely keep their distance.

Do not touch!

“Now the leper on whom the sore is, his clothes shall be torn and his head bare; and he shall cover his mustache, and cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’  He shall be unclean. All the days he has the sore he shall be unclean. He is unclean, and he shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp (Leviticus 13:45-46 NKJV).”

Lepers were in quarantine; they were untouchable.

They missed the touch and interaction of family and friends.

Jesus was and is a compassionate care giver.

He brings His healing touch.

“Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, ‘If You are willing, You can make me clean.’

Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’ As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed (Mark 1:40-42 NKJV).”
