IS It Written? Ask Yourself!

13 But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].--John 16:13, AMPC

There are many things that people say are in the Bible. Some are; some aren't. It's our job for each of us to "search out the Scriptures" and know the truth.

We need to ask ourselves if what we are believing and saying really came from the Bible, the eternal and unchanging, infallible Word of God.

"Cleanliness is next to godliness," say some.

Although the LORD does talk about being clean, He means spiritually--in our hearts.

And He made no difference between us and them, but cleansed their hearts by faith (by a strong and welcome conviction that Jesus is the Messiah, through Whom we obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom of God).--Acts 15:9, AMPC

"God helps those who help themselves."

God does not explicitly (clearly) say that, but He does that say "Faith without works is dead," and the Holy Spirit is our Helper. In the words of one anointed artist, "The Holy Spirit doesn't pick up the paintbrush and create the picture; I have to do that, and He helps me."

As my pastor says, "We are the doers, and the Holy Spirit is the Helper."

16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever— 17 The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and  recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.--John 14:16-17, AMPC

"You never know what God's gonna do."

Well, I disagree. God does not always tell us His plans--sometimes, because we'd mess them up or misunderstand and blame Him or someone else--but His Plans are good, and all good, and He makes His will very clear in His Word.

When it comes to detailed decisions in life, we can understand that, first of all, if we love Him and are doing our best to obey His Word and please Him otherwise, then He knows our hearts and is so merciful and gracious, that He guides us and corrects things for us--and even prevents wrong things--because He loves us. He is so awesome, and so awesomely good!

"God helps those who help themselves."

Here are a few things the LORD really did say:

And Jesus replied to him, It is written, Man shall not live and be sustained by (on) bread alone but by every word and expression of God.--Luke 4:4, AMPC

And Jesus replied to him, Get behind Me, Satan! It is written, You shall do homage to and worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.--Luke 4:8, AMPC

This He has completely fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up  Jesus, as it is written in the second psalm, You are My Son; today I have begotten You [caused You to arise, to be born; formally shown You to be the Messiah by the resurrection].--Acts 13:33, AMPC

But if I do them, even though you do not believe Me or have faith in Me, [at least] believe the works and have faith in what I do, in order that you may know and understand [clearly] that the Father is in Me, and I am in the Father [One with Him].--John 10:38, AMPC

What is the use (profit), my brethren, for anyone to profess to have  faith if he has no [good] works [to show for it]? Can [such] faith [such] faith save [his soul]?--James 2:14, AMPC

So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).--James 2:17, AMPC

Ask the LORD to show you things you may have believed that are not from Him. He will. He will always lead you in the Truth; the Right Paths (Psalm 23)!
