PROUD TO BE HIS DISCIPLE!

by linzy bruno

Feelings proud to be a disciple for Christ is clearly a Holy Spirit-given gift because it give God all the glory. Human pride has nothing to do with it. A disciple of Christ will naturally feel proud to represent the Lord on the earth, for we are His Ambassadors and there is no higher calling than devoting oneself to the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ:

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20)

When we give ourselves to loving Christ above all else, in unfeigned devotion, we are only able because of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling; transforming us into new creatures in Christ. . When we feel proud of our accomplishments, we are missing the point, as it is not of ourselves that we are able to climb the highest mountain, but God Who makes us able through the giftings He lavishes on all people, even those who do not even acknowledge Him

I beseech  you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)

The Word of God was given to guide and teach in these and all other TRUTHS, for if we boast, it is not of God; our boast may be only in who we are in Christ. In Him we are able to abide in our new nature; declaring ”My boast is in the LORD!”

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

“whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.” (James 4:14-16)

and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.” (1Corinthians 1:28)

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;” (1Corinthians 13:3-5)
