Finding Contentment

Different strokes for different folks…

Like ‘Green Acres’ Lisa Douglas, many choose life in a big city. In contrast, others identify with her husband Oliver; he had always dreamed of living on his own farm.

Some crave high priced restaurant cuisine; while most are satisfied with home cooked meals, pizza or burgers.

World travelers circle the globe with stops at popular tourist sites. Some would rather stay at home; prop up their feet and read about places near and far.

My husband is contented on Louisiana flat lands. Being decidedly different, friends Carol and Patrick are happiest at the beach and listening to sounds of waves coming ashore.

Me?

I like scenic views of rolling hills; valleys and mountains.

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1-2 NKJV).”

We live in a beautiful world; nature reveals the Creator.

“For the Lord is the great God,
And the great King above all gods.
In His hand are the deep places of the earth;
The heights of the hills are His also.
The sea is His, for He made it;
And His hands formed the dry land (Psalm 95:1-5 NKJV).”

We have different opinions; likes and dislikes.

Yet, we can be like-minded in finding contentment (whatever our circumstances).

“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:  I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:11-13 NKJV).”
