SHAKING THE IDOLATRY TREE

Metaphorically speaking, God is shaking the idolatry tree; He is shaking this world. If idolatry were something in trees, we could shake them until it fell out, but inasmuch as idolatry is in people, God is shaking this world in order to shake people into awareness of what they are doing and perhaps even more poignantly, what they are not doing.

These passages of Scripture using the word or forms of the word “shaking” are prophetically located amongst End Times verses. This isn’t the only times God has shaken things up to get the attention of His people, however, these Scriptures are among the most urgent, ominous and earth-shattering:

“whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.” (Hebrews 12:26-27)

^“For in My jealousy and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken: ‘Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel, so that the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.’” (Ezekiel 38:19-20)

It’s of paramount importance to realize that idolatry should be considered a serious matter; worthy of top priority importance, that needs changing as soon as possible. And, furthermore, that paganism is the form of idolatry the Bible refers to most, but idolatry includes anything we esteem higher than God:

“You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor ^]serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.” (Exodus 20:3-6)

“Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature, are not gods.” (Galatians 4:8)

“Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” (Colossians 3:5)

Believers are not above this countenance of considering people, things, money, sex/sexuality and/or the self higher than God. Some examples would be an overzealous love for: sports, materialism, money, position, beauty, popularity, other activities and all else that can be placed in a position above GOD. It’s a matter of the heart (1Samuel 16:7).

Moreover, what we do first thing when we awake in the morning says a great deal about our priorities. Whether we give God first priority by coming to His Throne in prayer, or fit in that all-important exercise regime by going for that early morning run.

These days (the LAST days) it seems secular society does care a whole lot more about physical fitness than spiritual fitness. Moreover, the Bible uses this illustration following an End Times description regarding the increased level of evil temptations, as this logically corresponds with human weakness and error: the greater the temptation, the more likely human beings are to falter:

The Great Apostasy

4 “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, ²speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, ³forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. ⁴For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; ⁵for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

A Good Servant of Jesus Christ

⁶If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. ⁷But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. ⁸For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.” (1Timothy 4:1-8)

We can use the illustration of a man shaking a tree in order to release the idols trapped within the branches, however we cannot so much as imagine shaking the entire world, but God is not only imagining it, HE IS DOING IT; shaking this world to bring the things of this world to dust, the industry, our means of travel, entire communities; everything that is not of God will be wiped out.

For all those who are following this world, a graven image or anything else other than God, let this come as an ominous warning. Believe in JESUS NOW and be saved from the destruction that will SOON come upon the whole world…..

"You shall have no other gods before Me." (Exodus 20:3)

"Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb." (Psalm 37:1-2)
