Testimony of His Faith

For us, it’s a regular way of life.

We’ve been married for close to 55 years and we’ve made giving thanks a part of mealtime.

Some refer to this act of gratitude as asking the blessing.

Others know it as saying grace.

It was once common to see patrons praying before eating in their favorite restaurants. Now, the sight is rare.

Apostle Paul was not ashamed or timid. Public prayer before eating served as a testimony of his faith in the Lord.

“Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, ‘Unless these men remain on the ship, you yourselves cannot be saved.’ Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the ship’s boat and let it fall away.

Until the day was about to dawn, Paul kept encouraging them all to take some food, saying, ‘Today is the fourteenth day that you have been constantly watching and going without eating, having taken in nothing. Therefore, I encourage you to take some food, for this is for your survival, for not a hair from the head of any of you will perish.’ Having said this, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all, and he broke it and began to eat (Acts 27:31-35 NASB).”

Our prayers before eating don’t have to be long. God doesn’t time them; He looks at our hearts. We need to remember that the Lord is the provider of our daily bread.
