Share the Wealth--Do Good!

by Tonja Taylor

...But by doing good deeds (deeds in themselves good and for the good and advantage of those contacted by them), as befits women who profess reverential fear for and devotion to God.--Timothy 2:10

You and I all have much wealth--which includes money, but is so much more! Even before I knew (according to KLOVE.com) that today was "Do Good Day," the LORD had impressed me to sow Christian books and magazines to people in my community. Ask Him how YOU can share the wealth today--and beyond!

Truly, I am not bragging on myself. I just delight that, when we ask the LORD to help us, He does! Of course He does--He's a good, good Father! So, since He's taught me to ask Him to fill me with Himself every day, and to help me be very sensitive and obedient to His Spirit (like the cruise control on the car), He does!

Hallelujah!

I've missed it, of course, and every Believer has, but He knows we want to do good; it is His Spirit in us that gives us that desire and prompting, and helps us to obey, for truly, we can do nothing and are nothing without Him--yet we are His precious children that He's adopted on purpose, through the blood of Jesus shed on the cross for us (John 3:14-17), to lavish His love on us and show through us how good He is!

As we share the wealth of God's goodness, in whatever form He chooses--for all good things come from Him!--then others see Jesus in action and are drawn to Him. Hallelujah! That is why we Believers are still on the planet; we have work to do!

I went to Biblegateway.com and put in "doing good" in the Amplified Classic Bible (my favorite). Here is what I found:

  1. John 5:29  And they shall come out—those who have practiced doing good  [will come out] to the resurrection of [new] life, and those who have done evil will be raised for judgment [raised to meet their sentence]
  2. Acts 10:38 How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him.
  3. Romans 3:27---Then what becomes of [our] pride and[our] boasting? It is excluded (banished, ruled out entirely). On what principle? [On the principle] of doing good deeds? No, but on the principle of faith.
  4. 1 Timothy 2:10---But by doing good deeds (deeds in themselves good and for the good and advantage of those contacted by them), as befits women who profess reverential fear for and devotion to God.
  5. 1 Timothy 5:10--And she must have a reputation for good deeds, as one who has brought up children, who has practiced hospitality to strangers [of the brotherhood], washed the feet of the saints, helped to relieve the distressed, [and] devoted herself diligently to doing good in every way.
  6. Titus 3:8--This message is most trustworthy, and concerning these things I want you to insist steadfastly, so that those who have believed in (trusted in, relied on) God may be careful to apply themselves to honorable occupations and to doing good, for such things are [not only] excellent and right [in themselves], but [they are] good and profitable for the people.

There's one more I thought of. I like to focus on the positive part of Proverbs, overall, because the LORD is the Master at taking negatives and making positives out of them--I'm living proof of that!

It is Proverbs 18:9, AMPC: He who is loose and slack in his work is brother to him who is a destroyer and he who does not use his  endeavors to heal himself is brother to him who commits suicide.

Here's how I phrase it to proclaim over myself and/or others: "ThankYou, Father, You help me use my endeavors (of doing good, which brings healing to others) to heal myself."

Hallelujah!

God is endlessly creative in how to do things, so ask Him to show you new ways to do good! He may surprise you, but just trust Him and enjoy the adventure!

The LORD is the ultimate Giver, of course, so every time we give in love, it is Him working through us! Totally cool!

If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land flowing with milk and honey.--Numbers 14:8, AMPC

Remember, you'll never be able to outgive God, and all the good we have, He gave it to us. When we love Him and give, we can expect Him to give back in amazing ways! He is so good!

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.--Psalm 37:4, AMPC

So go for it, and enjoy!
