Are They Brought With Ought?

by Tonja Taylor
6/30/2022 / Christian Living

So if when you are offering your gift at the altar you there remember that your brother has any [grievance] against you, 24 Leave your gift at the altar and go. First make peace with your brother, and then come back and present your gift.--Matthew 5:23, AMPC

"Ought" is an old-fashioned word that means "offense." As the LORD revealed to me again this morning, if we bring a gift to the altar and have ought (offense) in our hearts toward another, He can't fully bless us with the harvest/rewards like He wants. However, we can repent and ask Him to cleanse and restore us and our gifts!

I discovered this (again) when I read Matthew 5 this morning. I was searching for the Amplified Classic version of the Beattitudes, and found these when I read the entire chapter.

I immediately repented for sowing gifts (mostly of money, but "gifts" also includes service, prayers, encouragement and praises, material possessions, and whatever else the LORD leads us to sow) while being offended at others in my life--including in the church!--and asked Him to forgive and cleanse me.

God is so good, and always for us!

(These things can hide for years, but as you ask the LORD to reveal any offenses/hurts in your heart, He will show them to you, and help you pull them out, then heal your heart and memory from the pain (Psalm 147:3)! Ask me how I know! Hallelujah!)

But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.--1 Corinthians 2:10-11, New Living Translation (NLT)

He also revealed to me to ask Him to cleanse my gifts that I'd sown through the years, and help me receive the full harvests and rewards that I was due, now that I'd repented and since He had cleansed me and my gifts! Hallelujah!

The LORD is so faithful! He promises! Look at what He says in Matthew 15:13: He answered, "Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be torn up by the roots."

Hallelujah! He is the ultimate Gardener, the Husbandman (Genesis 2:8, John 15:1), Who is more diligent than any on earth--and only He can see those hidden roots that have been strangling one.

For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be brought to light. --Mark 4:22, Berean Study Bible

Only He can truly pull them out, then put the "weed-killer" of the Sword of the Word against them, to sever the roots and destroy the bad seeds! And He does, and He will! Just ask Him!

12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and  marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.…Hebrews 4:12-13, Berean Study Bible

When the Father pulls out those wrong roots and destroys the seeds, then, just like with any natural plant, there is much more room for the plant to grow and produce good 'fruit'!

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the  husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.--James 5:7, KJV

The LORD will help you get rid of all "ought" and then, the Love of God through Christ Jesus in you will rise and prevail! Your faith will grow, because faith works by Love. Hallelujah!

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. All that matters is faith, expressed through love.--Galatians 5:6, Berean Study Bible
