God's Word Is Our Healing!

by Tonja Taylor
8/13/2022 / Christian Living

20 My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them, healing and  health to all their flesh.--Proverbs 4:20-22, AMPC

God's Word will not only heal our bodies, but our "flesh"--mind, will, and emotions!

The LORD is so good! He revealed this deeper meaning to me the other day, when I was quoting Proverbs 4:22, which I've often done through the years.

The term "flesh" definitely can mean our bodies, just like we call animal meat "flesh," but what the LORD showed me is that God's Word is health and healing to all our souls, which the Bible calls "flesh" in many places. His Word is health and healing to our minds, wills, and emotions! Hallelujah!

So, you can ask the LORD to help you recognize when you need healing in your soul; mind, or will, or emotions—or all three!

One minister stated that “Everyone is sick in some way.” That sounds like bad news, but it’s the truth, because every person is born with the sin nature, when Adam and Eve listened to the devil instead of God (Genesis 3).

However! Jesus came that we might have life, and more abundantly, as He states in John 10:10. Glory to God! He came to rescue all mankind, and all we have to do is believe and take that rescue by asking His forgiveness for our sins, and that He would come into our hearts and be our Savior and LORD and best Friend forever!

He is the Living Word (John 1:1), and when we speak His Word, it changes us, those over whom we speak it, and our circumstances. It’s a mystery, but His Word always accomplishes that for which it is sent (Isaiah 55:10-12), even if we do not perceive it.

So, when we speak verses about healing over ourselves, such as Psalm 147:3, which says,He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows],” then we are sending healing to our souls. Glory to God!

Jesus died that we would be made whole. The work on His end is done. Now, it’s up to us to cause it to appear in our lives, by believing and speaking His Word.  It is part of our inheritance, provided by the blood of Jesus at the cross.

We can ask Him to help us build our faith, which comes by hearing (and reading and speaking, which are other forms of hearing) the Word of God, to believe and appropriate all that is ours in the Covenant! Hallelujah!

Father God will help us! He wants us to have all Jesus died to give us! Amen!
