At the point of starting this piece, I remember the story of a man of God who had a dog, which was so dear to him. It was interesting that this dog knew his owner's "daily itinerary".

One day, the dog followed the man's wife to the market,. The woman and the dog arrived towards evening. The dog was interested in "reporting" to the man of God that he had arrived from the market place.

This pet looked for the man at the first place but couldn't find him. He went to another place within the compound to no avail. Then he headed towards the church situated somewhere on the expansive premises.

He wagged his tail joyfully when he saw the man of God. A minister of God who was with the dog owner at the time wondered loudly how the dog was able to locate the man. The shocking reply he got was, "He knows my ways of life within this compound. He knows where he can find me whenever he wants to see me."

This brings to mind biblical records contained in the Gospel of Jesus Christ as written by Apostle Luke in chapter 4:
"And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read." verse 16.

Now, a careful look at the phrase "as his custom was" points to the fact that He had a lifestyle which had become part and parcel of Him. A way of life that he was known for. A lifestyle that could not be divorced from Him. A pattern of life He was used to. People knew Him with it.

What was His custom as recorded here?

The Scriptures discloses, "he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day; and stood up to read" verse 16(d-รก).

Let me call your attention to two things Jesus was accustomed with here:
1. Going into the presence of His Father, God. That was the ultimate goal of going to the synagogue. He was there to worship God. He did not forsake the gathering of God's people. He always registered His presence and everyone knew this with Him.
2. It is interesting and note worthy that He did not go to synagogue to bench-warm. He went there to perform a function known to everyone. Pay attention to, "and stood up for to read."

That was the reason it was recorded "And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias.... " verse 17a.

That is Jesus Christ for you!

Now, turn the search light to yourself and ask, "What is my custom as far as my life is concerned?" What are you known for? When you are not there, what can people say concerning your style of life? Are you the kind of person who cares for his relationship with his God? Do you go to the house of God to join others in worship? What assignments do you carry out in the house of God and when brethren come together?

What are you known for in the house of the Living God? What are you known for in your community? If need be, make a positive change in your customary way of life that oppose peace and tranquility of your society. Start to build a new and better way of life.

Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Note: All Scriptures quoted are from King James Version of the Holy Bible.

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3::35-36.
