Marital Mismatch 2

by Olawale Ogunsola
9/03/2022 / Marriage

Causes Of Marital Mismatch.
People are involved in marital mismatch: they complain and grumble about their situation and conditions. This was the focus of part one of this topic. For every marital mismatch, the Lord has a way out.

In part two of this same topic, I discussed a marriage that may look like a mismatch but which is divinely arranged although it may look tasking to the person engaged to carry out an assignment in his/her partner's life or home. In such a situation, the Lord who commissioned you, if your case falls into this category, will not only be with you and sustain you also.

Now in this part three, I am going to discuss causes of marital mismatch. These causes are many and varied. However, we are going to discuss about ten of these, briefly:

1. Deceit of riches.
One of the commonest causes of marital mismatch is deceit of riches. Ordinarily, riches seem to look as if it has power to solve all problems. This is not so. Certain riches has its underlying challenges. For instance, Laban had riches but the problem covered by the riches are the man's pattern of life. He was a man with whom was the habitation of foolishness.
His wife may not be able to discover or discern this during courtship. This story is contained in 1 Samuel chapter 25.

2. Deceit of the container (beauty).
Another common cause of marital mismatch is deceit of a person's container. Do you wonder what this means? It is beauty. Outward look is deceptive. It does not reveal the true nature of a person. Proverbs 30:30 informs us,
"Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last but a woman who fears the Lord shall be greatly praised."
There are so many victims of marital mismatch who fell into this trap. Let me reiterate it here that this deception may come from a male or female.
3. Parental influence
There are so many people who went into marriage relationships based on parental influence in every way. Parental authority that must be obeyed is a major factor that forced certain people into mandatory marriage against their interest. If there is no divine intervention, the tendencies are there that the unwilling partner may spend the rest of his or her life miserably.
Parental alliances is one of the causes of marital mismatch, a righteous family marriyng a daughter from a wicked family for their son because of societal status or influence will plant a seed of wickedness into their own family. This is what happens in 2 Chronicles 18:1.

4. Asking amiss.
Many people have asked amiss concerning a life partner. In so many times, people of God have gone before God to make a request only to end up dictating what they want to their Creator. In such circumstances, they will not consider allowing God to dictate the right person. What follows is a wrong choice of partners. This leads to lamentation in marriage.

5. Ignorance.
Ignorance plays a prominent role in marital mismatch. Ignorance manifests in various forms. Many do not know when God provides them their right life partner. It is possible that they met but for selfish reasons depart to come together no more. There are so many people who see marriage as going on excursion. It is sure that a person on excursion will return to His home. In fact, every sight seeing has a set time to complete it.

6. Satanic plans against elects of God.
Every saint of God will experience satanic buffeting in one form or another. He does this often in the area of marriage. Sometimes, satan injures a saint's marriage to put a blemish on him or family. It is deliberate from the kingdom of hell. Every saint should be aware of this and report to his Father in heaven for appropriate action.
Do you know that the Lord may allow this in His people's lives as a way of training them.

7. Peers influence.
Do you know that no man is an island? So we cannot do but relate and interact with one another. However, this interaction can be used positively or negatively. There are people who are already married before they are ready for marriage..
This comes in various forms. For instance, there are those who rushed into marriage for comparison purposes. They compared themselves with their peers and rushed into marriage without thoroughly preparing for it. In some other cases, it is the encouragement of peers that led many people into marriage and thereafter live a miserable lives.

8. Impatience(inability to wait for God's time). The Lord Whom we are serving is a God of order. He is orderly in His doings
He is never in a hurry. He works to bring out the best. He spent six days to create everything. He rested on the seventh day.
On the order hand, there are people of the Lord who do not follow Him. They are in a hurry. They are not ready to wait, not to talk of wait patiently. Yet, we cannot force Him to act before the right time. He follows His own Time Table that all He does might be perfect (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
So, impatience is the cause of many people's marital mismatch. Yet, God has a way out.

9. Greed/multiple dating.
Greed is the reason many people become victims of marital mismatch. The Holy Bible warm God's people against greed or covetousness.(Exodus 20:17;Romans 7:7).

Certain people knew the right choice for himself/herself but greed led him to run after other people's partner (s). By so doing, many women became pregnant for the wrong fellow and many men have put wrong fellow in the family way. This has become a permanent bitterness in their lives. Whose fault is it?

No matter what might be the cause(s) of a marital mismatch, repentance matters and going back to the Lord for discussion and following His instructions thereafter is the way out. Humble yourself before the Lord and He will direct you in the right way.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
