MAGNIFY GOD: Just Can't Say Enough Bout' Joy & Excitement!

by linzy bruno

"I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together." (Psalm 34:1-3)

God keeps us excited when we keep our focus on Him; He becomes greater, while what troubles us becomes lesser.

The truth is we humans don’t have very long attention spans. Our human nature is weak and readily prone to boredom; even the Scripture could become boring if God didn’t keep us excited. We don’t have the ability to keep all things new, but God sure does. He can do anything and He can enable anything He Decrees. Perhaps that’s one reason why the Bible is so profound, enlightening and attractive, we could spend a lifetime studying. Even the repeated reading of Scripture can seem just as moving and compelling the hundredth time, as it was the first time we ran across those amazing verses.

BUT glory to God, what we keep in focus and meditate on, we magnify in our lives. It’s sort of like a secret weapon we have against the draw of our natural propensities. Magnify God and perpetual joy and renewed excitement will be respectfully magnified; providing we are willing to receive it. Magnify even those blessings/gifts a hundred times over. And recall all those times and ways that He has shown up repeatedly, like saving us over and over again (from ourselves).

Glory to God, all I have to do is think about Him and the joy that comes immediately is astounding and fresh; everything is truly brand new. He renews all things and keeps all things new--

Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2Corinthians 5:16-17)

In His Great Wisdom, Love and Perfect Provision for His children, one way He demonstrates that He Hears us is through circumstance. For example, only one day before our oven pooped out, God led us to purchase a toaster oven, as our toaster was nearing its end. And He provided a way (money just happened to come from my mother, unsolicited) to make that perfectly-timed purchase. For a second example, this one more about His Great Love, He arranged for a good Samaritan to find my son’s wallet laying on the ground in the rain, and an officer showed up with it at our door about an hour later.

God hears us and we just need to remember to hear HIM. One promising way is to magnify Him at all times.

God’s Words of Promise to Israel at a time of revival:

“The threshing floors shall be full of wheat,
And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.”
 (Joel 2:24)

As God’s Word illustrates; we are wise to keep Him as King in our lives and seek out the things of Heaven, rather than pursuing worldly possessions, as we read in Matthew 6:19-20--

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

God keeps us excited about His Word, His Ways and His Promises and life in general, when we keep Him in great honor, keep our focus on His position as GOD in our lives and glorify Him. This then is magnification; exalting the things and ways of God keeps the attention on Him, and thus, He becomes bigger and more REAL in our lives.

Another way is through looking for His Great Appearance at the Rapture. Of course it would not be possible to find joy in His Coming without first making Him number one in our lives. But that being said; we look with great anticipation of His Great Appearing to take us with Him, to live forever with Him, (John 14:2-6.)

It’s much like a child at Christmas, is it not; to keep looking and waiting as patiently as we can for Him to show up?

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” (2Timothy 4:6-8)
