Happy High-Powered Housework

by Tonja Taylor

All the days of the desponding and afflicted are made evil [by anxious thoughts and forebodings], but he who has a glad heart has a continual feast [regardless of circumstances].--Proverbs 15:15, AMPC

When a drawer in the fridge was stuck and my husband helped me get is loose, I discovered some sludge and stuff that need to be cleaned. So I put on some upbeat worship music and started rejoicing, worshiping, praying--doing happy high-powered housework!

Yes, I had planned to do other things, but the LORD helped me to be thankful.

I put on some high-powered praise, and starting singing along, then praying some for others; praying in the Spirit; and just thanking the LORD for a very full fridge and cabinets, when many are without. This led to more thanksgiving for other parts of life.

God has been so good!

You may not like housework, but it can be a special time where, instead of focusing on having to clean up, you focus on Christ Jesus, and be deliberately thankful, for whatever you can think of.

This can include having a house or apartment to clean; having electricity to stay warm or cool; having a strong body, mind, and hands to be able to clean; having a refrigerator and money to pay for the electricity; having food in the fridge to eat; having cleaning supplies, and a broom and mop to clean the flloor with after you clean the fridge.

It can be a refreshing thing, if you look at it right. We almost always feel better when things are clean and in order (because, obviously, everything is perfectly clean and in order in Heaven, and we can have days of Heaven on earth!

Finally, if you start to complain, ask the Holy Spirit to help you to stop, and be thankful. After all, billions of other people would love to be in your situation!

16 Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always); 17 Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly]; 18 Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].--I Thessalonians 5:16-18, AMPC

Our Helper, the Holy Spirit, can use these things to help you do happy, high-powered housework. You may find yourself actually looking forward to more such 'chores,' because the focus will really be about spending time with the LORD!

Tonja and her husband live to exalt God. They lift Him up in books (P.O.W.E.R. Girl!; LEGACY; Visions of the King; Your Holy Health; more); presentations; service in church, community, and the world; and via the "River Rain Creative" (309 videos) and "POWERLight Learning" You Tube channels.
