If the LORD Gives You a Dream

by Tonja Taylor
12/30/2022 / Christian Living

As for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom, and Daniel had understanding in all [kinds of] visions and dreams.--Daniel 1:17, AMPC

I am not a dream interpreter, and overall, I am wary of those who say they are.

This is mainly because, just like one can never truly see into the heart and mind of a poet and thus not fully comprehend the poet's thrust in choosing every word and phrase, no matter how pleasing, then, to me, no one but God can truly know the meaning of a dream.

Just like art, dreams are subjective.

Until we get to Heaven, we see in part and know in part, and I've heard an internationally-respected minister state that even then, we'll be going, "Oh! Now I see! No wonder!" etc., for eternity.

It's no wonder; the LORD Himself, the Living Word, is endless Revelation!

Hallelujah to the Lamb!

When the LORD gives you a dream, His Spirit will help you understand, as only He can, that it is from Him.

I've had a few dreams in my life that I know were from God. Most dreams are just "pizza dreams," to cleanse the mind of junk of the day.

I did have a dream once that really disturbed me for three days: I saw a spot in my forehead which, upon closer reflection in the mirror (during the dream), was actually a snake head sticking out of my head!

Revolted, I immediately started probing my soul to see what terrible sin I'd committed for which I'd never repented, or for some deep thing hidden within that yet needed to be revealed so I could repent.  I asked the LORD about it, and in His graciousness, my Daddy God conveyed to me that it was not unrepented sin (Praise the LORD!), but sin consciousness that was stuck in my head, my life, my soul--which I needed to get rid of.

I've been working on becoming more aware of such, and getting rid of it. It's been a process, for that dream occurred in 2014, and 8 years later, I'm still getting victory, but I have made major progress. Praise the LORD!

Other dreams I've had include spiritual warfare, and some of it I think was really happening while I dreamed.....but I can't prove it. It's subjective, and anyway, that means it's really between me and the LORD.

I mention dreams about spiritual warfare because you may have had, or the LORD may give you, such.

Additional dreams I've had include ministers interacting with me, and I believe these are prophetic dreams; dreams about part of God's plan for the future.

I have not had recurring dreams, which some certainly have.

It would be nice if we could truly have another human interpret our dreams, and the LORD can certainly give God-honoring people some insight, as He did for Daniel in the Bible. God never changes, and does not play favorites (although He does honor faith and worship moves His heart), so He can do anything He wants.

You can, with the peace of God, seek a minister who truly lives by the Bible, and see if the LORD gives them anything to share with you about your dream.

However, understand that the Holy Spirit Who is God is truly the only One Who can ever tell you the real, deep meaning of your dream. He is able, and He will, if you need to know it.

Sometimes we may not get insight into dreams and such, but we can rest assured that the LORD Who created and sustains us every moment is taking care of us, guiding us, helping us, covering us.

Great is the faithfulness of the LORD our God!

And I will bring you into the land concerning which I lifted up My hand and  swore that I would give it to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you for a heritage. I am the Lord [you have the pledge of My changeless omnipotence and faithfulness].--Exodus 6:8, AMPC

Know, recognize, and understand therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, Who keeps covenant and steadfast love and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations,--Deut.7:9, AMPC
