P.O.W.E.R.* Girl IV - Ch. 08 - The Dancing Horses of Austria

“Thank you again, Ms. Sophia!” Pearl said, and hugged the older woman’s neck. “This is so exciting, to get to see the Lipizzaners!” Thank You, Daddy God, for helping me get another vision done! she thought. Hmm. I need to update my Vision List!

“Es un placer!” said Ms. Sophia. “More birthday blessings for me!”

“Yes! Thank You, Ms. Sophia!” said Robert, sitting between her and his mother. “You are so nice!” He leaned his head on Ms. Sophia’s shoulder. “And I’m so glad Jesus sent you here!”

“Me too, Sir Robert!” she said, and kissed the top of his head.

Pearl and her mother smiled at each other. God is so awesome! Pearl thought.

“She spends so much money on us, and keeps calling them her birthday presents!” whispered Xi to Pearl, as she sat back down between Xi and Robin.

The younger two girls grinned and nodded, and Pearl said loudly, “Todopoderoso es muy generoso!”

Ms. Sophia laughed and leaned forward to smile at Pearl. “Excelente, Princess! Amen!”

Risa, sitting on the end by Burt, looked around at Pearl and gave her a thumbs up. “Muy bien!”

Pearl smiled. “Robin’s been helping me. Muchas gracias, mi amiga!” she said, and hugged her.

Robin smiled and pointed across the arena. “Look! The Lippizans!”

These must be the most magnificent horses on the planet! thought Pearl, as the lovely Lipizzaner stallions started flowing from the door.

“Wow!” said Pearl, not taking her eyes off the beautiful creatures. “Just think, Robin! We each have a gorgeous white horse, and King Jesus’ will be the most magnificent of all!”

The announcer started talking and described the select moves the specially-trained horses did. Pearl watched, mesmerized. Wow, LORD, I wonder if I can train Sorpresa to do that? Pearl thought. Probably not, though, ‘cause I’d have to be trained myself. But maybe I could go ride one at the Spanish Riding School? I see a girl riding one. Can I do that?

She watched as the maneuvers of the horses became increasingly complex. That is so amazing how the acrobats do flips on the horses while they are trotting around the arena! she thought. Hey! Maybe I could ride a Lipizzaner while I played the harp! She looked around at Ms. Sophia, who seemed to be highly enjoying herself. LORD, You are so good to us! Thank You! And help me remember to ask Ms. Sophia about going to Spain to the riding school!

She looked over at Robert, sitting between Xi and Ms. Sophia, holding hands with them. Wow, even Robert is focused! She smiled. Of course, part of that is because he now has Your mind, Jesus! Thank You for healing his heart!

The voice of the announcer became even louder, and more crisp, as he said, almost reverently, “The magnificent Lipizzaners will now perform various select moves of royal dressage. Marvel as the royal horses present the most challenging part of haute ecole: the “airs above ground”.

The show ended, and on the way home, Pearl and her family were remarking on their favorite parts of the show.

“Ms. Sophia, do you know anyone at the Spanish Riding School?” asked Pearl. “I really want to go ride a Lipizzan there.”

“Pearl, it’s good to think big,” said her mother, “but I think those horses are only ridden by the riders they grow up with. There are many other fine horses in the world to ride, though!”

“Princess, you can ride a Lipizzaner mare at the farm in Slovenia,” said Ms. Sophia, looking at her phone. “We can get a tour, and learn more about these beautiful creatures.”

“Great!” said Pearl. “Where’s Slovenia? I never heard of it before.”

Her uncle laughed. “You don’t really care where it is, as long as you can ride a Lipizzaner, right?”

          “Right!” Pearl said.

“It’s close to the riding school—kind of,” said Burt from the front.

“Slovenia is located in central Europe,” read Ms. Sophia from her phone. “This say that is next to Austria, and Hungary to the east.”

“Hungry!” said Robert. “There’s a place named that?”

Burt laughed even louder. “Charlotte, I’m going to have to help you with geography in this last semester of homeschool!” he said, grinning at the rear-view mirror at her. “Hungary—Hun-ga-ry—is under Slovenia, Rob, which is across the ocean in Europe.”

“I suggest you do research, and you can make that one of your papers for homeschool,” said her mother. “You can learn all about the Lipizzaner farm and Slovenia, and—”

“But I was going to do mine on the power of the positive sayings-what do you call them again?—that we say every morning,” interrupted Pearl. “I know they make me feel good, when we start our school day with them, and didn’t you say Aunt Beth had her students do them every morning, and then when her whiteboard went out and the school didn’t fix it, that the kids had them in their hearts and said them anyway?”

          “That’s cool!” said Robin.

Xi nodded, with her earbuds in.

Hmm. Even listening to that secular music, she’s listening! thought Pearl. Great!

“Yes!” said her mother. “You’re talking about affirmations—and they are all based on Scriptures!”

“Yes, every good slogan or motto, or whatever they call it that’s good, really is based on the Bible,” said Burt. “Jesus said it first!” He laughed.

Pearl’s mother  nodded. “Right! Pearl, you can do both, by the way! You can use the horse paper for social studies and history, and the paper on affirmations for English.”

“So will that be all the papers I have to do this semester?”

“There will be one more on science,” her mother replied, “but I’m sure you’ll find something interesting to do for that.”

“Hey!” said Robert. “How about cookie science?” said Robert.

“That’s a pretty good idea, Rob,” said Pearl. “Maybe! But aren’t you going to do your paper on it—like on Robert Specials!”

“Yeah!” he said. “So I’ll do mine on cookies! And I want to be the board keeper this week, OK, Mama?”

“Sweetie, you were the board keeper this week, but thank you,” his mother said. “It’s Pearl’s turn this week.”

I know just what I’m going to put on there, too! thought Pearl, and smiled.

Robert kicked the seat, and his mother reached back and touched his leg. “Is that the right way to act, Robert?” She waited, and he said nothing. “Would you do that if Jesus were sitting beside you?”

“Nope,” he said quietly. “I’m sorry.”

“Okay, sweetie, thank you for apologizing. I just need you to remember that God is everywhere, and now that you have Jesus in your heart, He is with you everywhere you go.”

“Oh yeah!” he said, and jumped up and down in his seat.

Help me be nice, LORD, thought Pearl, and said, “Rob Rob, I think you’ll like what I’m going to put on the board Monday.”

          “What, Sissie?”

“Remember when Aunt Beth told us she’d put “Jesus loves you and so do I on her board in the public school, then the principal came and made her take it off?”

“Yeah! She said he said if Jesus’ name was on there, that she’d have to put those other stupid names on there, but they are not real!” he said, sounding upset.

“Shhhh, Son,” his mother said, again reaching back and gently touching his leg.

Ms. Sophia hugged him and held his hand. “It’s OK, Robert. We know you love the right things!”

“Yeah, she said he said she’d have to put the names of those dead people that many worship, but like she told the principal, only Jesus came back to life again, and He is coming soon!” Pearl said, We love You, LORD! You rule!

“So what did she do?” asked Xi. The street lights lit up her face for a bit, as they reached the downtown area.

Ahh! She’s interested! This is cool, Daddy God! thought Pearl, and smiled.

“She didn’t want to erase it, but she asked the LORD what to do, and she said He told her to put, “You are loved by everyone who matters.”

          “Hmm,” said Xi.

          Robin nodded, “That works.”

“Si, because that covers it all!” Risa said.

Pearl continued. “The kids asked where Jesus’ name was, and Aunt Beth said she was told to take it off, so the kids were offended and wanted to know who told her that. She didn’t tell them at first. Anyway, within a couple weeks, two of her students got saved and were excited to tell her about it, and wanted her to come see them being baptized!”

          “Neat!” Xi said.

Oh wow, Xi is excited at them being born again! This is great, Jesus! thought Pearl. You are always working!
