In the still of the night, I wrestle with sleep
My body trembles, heavy eyelids struggle
Indifference leads my mind into an anxious abyss
God is not pleased
His Word calls me the temple of the Holy Spirit
Why have I created a temple of doom?
I've run from God in disobedience
Permitting fear and anger to dominate
Where love and peace should reign
Be still my soul; release the pain
Mediate on God's Word, not circumstances
Envision victory, not disaster
Beckon the solace of mattress and pillow
Massage soreness with softness
Speak mercy, grace, and love to my limbs
Drift into dreams ordained by God
Hear the whispers of His voice
Release confusion and insanity
No longer fighting battles not my own
No more to say, I bid adieu
Too tired not to be embrace restoration
Have thy way oh Lord
I pour out the vile within me
Emptied, thy Spirit now can dwell
Hold me tight in thy arms rock me
Soothe my splintered mind
Reassured, I can embrace the night, and your presence
