Put Christ Back In Christmas

I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas. I will not wish you Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings. This is Christmas and there is more to it than just the materialistic side. We need to put Christ back in Christmas, for it is His birth we celebrate at this joyful time of year. Why have we forgotten this spiritually significant event which should be of paramount importance in our lives? Why have we allowed possessions to overtake our lives as we celebrate the birth of Jesus?

As Christmas day slowly approaches, we rush from store to store in a frenzy of shopping, thereby missing the true meaning of Jesus birth. We close the eyes of our hearts to the gift of His life which He came to share with each individual. We close the eyes of our souls to the gift of His love which He desires to bless us with. Despite the growing increase of secularism year after year, we must learn the true meaning of giving and sharing. Our focus must not be solely on monetary and materialistic items. Our focus must be on the love we share with one another as exemplified by Jesus when He came to share His life with us.

Unfortunately this is not always possible. Day by day incidents of violence reign throughout our country and throughout the world. What would our parents and grandparents say if they could see what is transpiring in our schools, colleges and countries today? Our world cannot continue on at its current frantic and upsetting pace. We must seek peace which can only be found when we have union with God. We must put Christ back into Christmas, into our lives and into our families. Merry Christmas!
