Fear and Promises

by Nancy Quinn
3/08/2008 / Devotionals

I had a Shetland pony named Scout as a child who my dad rescued from the "glue factory". He was a faithful, gentle friend to me and I loved riding him. We didn't have a saddle, so I quickly got adept at getting on his back and learning how to grip with my knees as we trotted through the fields. Scout always knew I'd bring him a treat so he'd follow me closely and would nudge my pockets, knowing there was a sugar cube waiting for him.

I met an even better Friend now, and his name is Jesus Christ. He too, is faithful and loves me and rescued me. And I have the reassurances from the Bible that He will never leave me nor forsake me. The Bible is filled with a treasure trove of verses of promises from the Lord. And in these end times we are living in, isn't that a promise we want to hold on tightly to? After seeing the news, it's very comforting that I know the ending of this lifetime "movie". Satan is working hard because he knows the time of this earth is quickly coming to a close, but the Lord is still in control even though appearances may make you question that. So don't be afraid by what you see on the news. I encourage you to study the Bible and read the book of Revelation. If you have asked Jesus Christ into your heart to be your Savior and Best Friend, then you don't have to be afraid of the things that will happen in the future. And if you don't know Jesus yet as your Best Friend and Savior, then let Him rescue you from despair, fear and a future death of eternal separation from him. You can just pray the below prayer, and Jesus will come into your heart to be your Savior. But He's waiting for you to invite Him in; do you hear him knocking on the door to your heart?

Dear God, I know I am a sinner. Please forgive me. I believe that Jesus died for me on the cross and that He arose from the grave so that I can live with Him in Heaven someday. I am now trusting Jesus as my Savior. Thank you for loving me and saving me. Amen.

If you prayed the above prayer, then you are now a Christian and the angels are cheering in heaven! Just call your local bible-teaching church and they will help you grow in your newfound faith, and welcome to the family of God! You are greatly loved and very special to God!

Revelation 3:20 "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends."

Psalm 56:4 "I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?"

Isaiah 41:10 "Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand."

John 14:27 "I am leaving you with a giftpeace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid."

May God bless these words as I strive to encourage others in their walk with Christ. Please contact me if you would like to request a specific lesson that Lucy Mouse can teach your children or if you would like a coloring page to be sent to match the story!
