Wheelbarrow Races; Chasing After the Blessings of God

Gripping the worn metal sides of the wheelbarrow, Mitsy my little rat terrier tucked between my legs, we both enjoyed the cool breeze in our faces as we raced back to the house. Mitsy's ears flopping and her little pink tongue hanging out, she was obviously having as much fun as I was that morning. Doing yard work on a summer weekend meant when it was time for the chores to end, my dad would give my dog and I a ride back to the garage in the wheelbarrow. His jog was enough for a child and her dog to enjoy the thrill of the little race back to the house.

Ah, the joys of childhood. And the memories from my childhood tucked away in my heart bring a smile to my face. I don't remember a lot about our trip to amusement parks or an expensive vacation we took. I remember simple things that showed my parents loved me daily.

And just like the ways my parents showed their love for me, I know my Heavenly Father shows his love for me every day too. I never want to be so busy to miss noticing those constant blessings of love. I try to always remember to thank the Lord throughout the day for His eternal love and protection. The safe journey to work that morning; the job He's blessed me with to provide for my family; friends to talk to; and a safe and warm place to come home to at night with food on the table. Try counting the Lord's blessings in your life today and see if you can stop! He loves us with an eternal and everlasting love!

Psalm 91:4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

Psalm 34:7-8 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

Psalm 37:3-5 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.
