First Things First; Love

by Mark Heatherly
6/01/2008 / Christian Living

Our Father has put within our hearts a most beautiful thing, the desire to love & be loved. When realized, it is sweet to the soul as honey to the tongue. It has the distinctive ability like no other, to make all things aright.

Every good & perfect thing originates & flows from Him. "For from Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things." And so it is with this most blessed of all things...love. God is love. And so, He is blessed to give us this desire of our heart...to be unconditionally loved. We however, cannot love in return, that is, without Him as our love. The Father therefore, must be our sufficiency in all things.

For love pursued, without first love realized, is love amiss.

God says, "First things first, My child. Delight yourself in Me & I in you & I will give you the desires of your heart. The desires of your new heart which I give unto you, is that of love. It is not the selfish love which you have known before. This love, is of Me. This love, is Me !

We must partake of the one who IS love personified. In order to posses this true love, we must first posses Him. To posses Him, He must first posses us. When we receive Him, indeed we have received love.

When once we have received this most desirable treasure, then we realize the great secret of the most high God...the sweetness of love lies not as before, in the receiving, but now instead, in the giving. For behold the mystery; out of that which may thirst, will flow rivers of living water.

It is His beautiful purpose & plan then, that we simply be a vessel through which His essence may flow. And this we know, that the essence of God is love.

There is but one secret however, to realizing this most blessed treasure in your heart ; it is the absence of self. This, because "self" stops the flow of the river like a dam. The remedy, is simple humility. It is nothingness before God that He may fill us unto His fullness. And what is His fullness, but love ?

In Him then, may we live & move & have our being ! This, o man is the glory of our salvation. He must first have us as His possession, that we may abide in Him & He in us. Only then, may we taste of the sweetness of life. Only then, do we truly experience this most precious love, when we are so immersed in the midst of the river of life.

Do not block what the Spirit so freely wishes to give, but first things first :

You in Him, and He in you, then will it flow...rivers of living water.

This is life, this is love, this is My Son !

You must have it, to give it. You must lose it, to receive it. You must give it , to keep it.

I make my writings available to all, but I would very much like to hear from those who have questions or comments or are built up & enriched & also from those who wish to use my writings for reprint.
