I had a stressful day and work and was anxious to get home. As I got in my car and was leaving the parking lot the tension escalated. Cars were fighting for spots and tempers flared. As I was trying to exit my parking aisle, I got hemmed in by cars coming and going. Straight in front of me at a 45 degree angle this woman in an SUV was screaming at me: "Move it, Move it !!!@*&". Frustrated and unable to go anywhere, I decided to yell back at her. I was even going to give her a gesture, and a few more choice phrases, when looked down and saw my BIG COMPANY I.D. TAG there for all to see so much for anonymity. I realized that whenever I am wearing that badge, or even clothing with the company name on it, I am a representative of the company I work for.
That got me thinking.
As a Christian, I am always wearing an ID badge that bears the name of the One I work for His reputation is always at stake when people see the way I work, play, talk, spend my free time. People are always watching and waiting for Christians to mess up but some hope against hope that we are the real deal. I guess we are always on display, in a way. Very sobering.
Redfaced and ashamed, I know that I do not always bring the honor due to my Lord by the life I live. It is an honorable goal to work toward, but I am falling very very short these days.
Thank God that His mercies are new every morning.
