You came
Tiny, premature.
You were beautiful
Strong, yet fragile.
I wanted thento love you
I was your mother!

I was confused
Thinking love came natural
We struggled
Yet grew.
You, in stature
Me, in love.

At first it was hard
Very hard!
Many mistakes were made
Impatience prevailed.
I prayed often.
For a better way to reach you.

Time passed
We fought.
We learned.
Growing in patience.
You taught me much
About love.

You suffered most
From my ignorant ways.
For siblings that followed
Your faltering course.
Their path less cluttered
You were their savior of sorts.

Your spirit so valiant
A brave volunteer
For brothers and sisters
Who someday will thank you
For coming before them
To show me the way!
