Darkened Caverns

Darkened caverns cannot scare me, nor can shadows in my mind,
I no longer live with hauntings of the things I left behind,
I quit running from the serpent and the demons at my door,
Darkened caverns are reminders of the things I knew before.

Darkened caverns are the small things that I used to think were large,
I quit running from the mem'ry of the times they were in charge,
And the fear that used to haunt me is the fear I now ignore,
Darkened caverns are reminders of the things I knew before.

Darkened caverns cannot hurt me; they are just an empty shell,
Though I once thought they would lead me to the very brink of Hell,
Now I laugh and scorn the darkness, for my God has barred the door,
Darkened caverns are reminders of the things I knew before.

Darkened caverns are behind me; lighted hallways are ahead,
I no longer see my failures; I see only God instead,
For His Word has lit my footsteps as He shows me what's in store,
Darkened caverns, distant mem'ries of the things I knew before.
