Joel 2:28-32 (NIV)

28 "And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
29 Even on my servants, both men and women,I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
30 I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
31 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.
32 And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the survivors whom the LORD calls.

I awoke on a mid October day before the sun had risen in the morning sky. I stepped outside and took a deep breath as I took a fleeing glimpse at the starry host; they looked as if they were diamonds in all their brilliance. As I sat there meditating on Gods creation, there on the horizon came a warming glow. A sign of the coming day, the sky went from a smoky gray to a brilliant blue as the sun slowly lifted above the trees to take its ordained seat in the heavens. (Ge 1:14-19)

The day rolled by like a gentle stream, the birds sang new songs as they played in the yard and the squirrels scurried from tree to tree gathering pecans for the coming winter. The leaves were turning from a metallic green to a beautiful orange-red, laden with soft yellow highlights, as they made there way to carpet the ground. It was a sign of one season coming to a close, as the next was being birthed.

As evening approached I noticed a violent wind, the leaves blew everywhere, and the tree branches were being vigorously shaken. The strong winds began to litter the sky with cold dark clouds. It was a sign of the impending rain, as it approached the horizon. The temperature fell rapidly as the birds flew away; I noticed a squirrel with its head looking out from its nest as it started to rain.


Matthew 16:1-3 (NIV)

1The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven.
2He replied,[a] "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' 3and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.

Have you noticed how discerning we are when night changes to day, or when seasons change? What about the weather? These are physical changes that we can see and feel, we can see the night become day! We know when the leaves fall from the trees; winter is right around the corner. And when the dark clouds blow in violently, we know that a storm is on its way! We are good at descerning from night to day and the changing of the seasons or even the weather, but can we descern the signs of the end of the age? It take a intense relationship with Jesus Christ our God, and for the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the knowledge of these end time signs.


Today we are a people much like our brethren of old. We are constantly looking for a sign, a word of prophesy, or confirmation of what the lord has layed on our hearts. But the most common method the Lord uses to show us of the things to come, is through signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth.

Joel 2:30(NIV)

I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke.

The Bible is full of occasions of signs from the heavens and on the earth. We can start in Genesis 1:14 (NIV) And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years,

We serve a God who through signs created the earth; He has established covenants with signs. God made a covenant with Noah and every living creature not to destroy the earth by a flood, and God layed His battle bow in the sky facing towards the heavens to signify that that His wrath had subsided and no longer was it directed towards the earth. (Ge 9:12-17)

In the Exodus from Egypt, God gave Moses and the Israelites signs in the heavens with divine guidance.

Exodus 13:20-21 (NIV)

After leaving Succoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert. 21 By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. (Ex 13:20-21) (NIV)

When Jesus was born in the manger, The Magi followed his star from the east all the way to Bethlehem, another sign in the heavens. (Mt 2:1-2)

In Matthew 24, the disciples asked Jesus, what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age? Jesus replied, for many will come in my name, claiming, I am the Christ and will deceive many. (Mt 24:5)

Brethren, what about Jim Jones or David Koresh? These men came in Jesus name, claiming to be the Messiah! These men deceived many people!

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. (Mt 24:6) Hello! We are at war in the Middle East, and theirs rumors of wars between the US and Iran. The US and North Korea! We have Russia supporting Iran and China supporting North Korea! Hello! These are super powered nations with nuclear weapons.

Mark 13:8 (KJV)

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

What about the 2004 Indonesian Tsunami, an under water earthquake caused all that death and destruction. Wake up call 101! Earthquakes in divers places ring a bell!

Sign, Sign Everywhere A Sign!

End time prophecies are being fulfilled before our very eyes. I also believe we are the end times generation. Im not penning this to frighten you, but to waken you from your slumber. We need discernment more than ever, for the end of this age is at hand!

Lord, we know from your word that you are a
God of signs and wonders, we ask that you increase
our discernment skills. Guide us as you did with Moses
and the Israelites, guide us by day with
a pillar of cloud and by night with fire to light our way
up that narrow road to our eternal homes.
In Jesus name. Amen
