PORNOGRAPHY - the secret destroyer of our times!

The Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, 7th edition describes pornography as books, videos, etc. that describe to show naked people and sexual acts in order to make people feel sexually excited, especially in a way that many other people find offensive.
The word is derived from porne the Greek word for prostitute.

Everywhere across the film shops, bookstores, cable and even on the internet we now have pornographic materials stare at us. The worst thing about it is that it spreads like wild fire.
"There is no harm in it," the easily deceived have said. I too said it once in my life time and it kept creeping in little by little till it got a hold of me and overwhelmed me.

Many people I have talked with who are already engaged in this act always have this question to defend themselves with "I need to engage in pornography because it teaches me or will teach me how to have sex with my spouse, or won't you get married?"
I only smile within me when I hear this because "the god of this world {the devil} has blinded the unbelievers' minds [that they should not discern the truth], preventing them from seeing the illuminating light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ (the messiah), Who is the image and Likeness of God" (2 Corinthians 4:4 AMPLIFIED).
Adam and Eve in the Bible never needed such pornographic materials to enable them learn how to give birth to Cain and Abel. The skills have been naturally endowed to the creatures by God.

Do not be deceived! The devil has no other business but to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10 KJV). See how he works: he first brings across a pornographic material before your face (which is the gateway to destruction) and constant feeding your eyes on it may now lead you to illicit sex then to venereal diseases which may lead such a one to death. It may also result to masturbation which may lead to marital problems, then eventually divorce as the case may be. Or it may go from pregnancy before marriage to abortion.

So many ways, but whichever, the end of it is always destruction. "There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death" (Proverbs 14:12 AMPLIFIED).

The saying "You are a product of what you read" is true. A human being is a spirit, having a soul and living in a container called a body. So when we read/watch or listen to anything, we are feeding our spirit. And after a while it will desire to practicalise and give out what it has been feeding on.

It was in my teenage years that I saw a school mate secretly read a magazine. Out of curiosity, I longed to know what the content of the magazine was. I took it from under his bunk in secret and pierced my eyes into it for about 20 minutes. It contained pictures of people having sex. I never knew that was the beginning of my bondage and slavery to masturbation. This would stir me up and I spent my money buying more of the magazines, then later the video tapes after which I got lost in the internet. After every visualization, I would go and masturbate. I couldn't even pray any longer because the more I tried to pray, the more of the pictures of sex and nudity came up

Beloved, the Bible says, "resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7 KJV). "Neither give place to the devil" (Ephesians 4:27 KJV). The devil is very cunning. The evil spirits easily gain access into a body when we open the gates of our life to them through pornography.

It happened that one day as I heard the preacher preach, I was so much convicted in my heart and wept bitterly, crying to God for help and forgiveness. He hears.
Later on, I had a preacher lay hands on me after which I was filled with the Holy Spirit. It was indeed a turning point in my life because I now saw clearly that I almost destroyed my destiny with my own money!!! I had to destroy every material I had in possession related to pornography.

Perhaps, you are addicted to pornography; you can be free from it. The question is do you want to be free from it? If yes, then that is the beginning. You have to humbly get back to your creator in prayers for forgiveness and grace; then you meet a strong, Spirit-filled Christian who will join you in praying for your deliverance. God is always willing to deliver you. After which self discipline too matters a lot.

Dear, if everyone around you is involved in what may lead to death or destruction, don't join them. Why? Because YOU are different!
