The Branch
by Cynthia mitchell It was still early and I had to make a trip to the store before I went to work. I always love to sing in my car and praise God. Some times I pray, but on this day I was listening to music and my soul was rejoicing to know that I was a child of God. The area where I lived was countryside. It was near a state park and it was very quiet and serene. I lived at the base of a mountain and I had to travel around it to get any where. That in itself made any trip worth while because I would always see the majesty of the Lord in the beauty of his creation. I have often wondered, and I guess even doubted the fact that I fit into the kingdom of God. But this particular day, God showed me that yes I was his and he was mine. That his unconditional love applied to me too. A woman void of understanding, but not void of love. As I drove home, i passed a small garden. Along the edge of it was a hedge of crepe myrtle trees. This time of year they bloom everywhere in the Carolina Piedmont. They were red crimson, very beautiful, but I noticed something about one of them. There were about twelve trees, all crimson red, but one of them was unique. It had a branch that reached out and it obviously stuck out like a sore thumb you might say. The branch was white. I thought, Lord how could this be? The tree is red. God spoke to me that day. He simply said it was grafted in. Just like you. What a revelation! Now I knew how I fit in. It was because of the man called Jesus. Who died on the cross and his red blood is what washed my sins away and gave me a garment that was white and clean. Romans chapter 11 verse 17 tells us we are grafted in to the kingdom. And the chapter continues on to say, because I believed I was grafted in. I wasn't born into it,yet God in His wonderful mercy included me in his mighty kingdom. I am a beginning writer, but I know God has given me this desire to write. I have many testimonies that are true, but my words come out in writing much better than spoken. I want to follow this path to see where it leads. If it is just to touch someone's heart, so be it Lord. Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
