Last Call
by Sondra Kelly

Mama sat in the chair in the living room, in a daze. She seemed as if her mind had drifted to the other side of the universe. "Mama, are you okay?" I asked. "Why my son?" is all that mama could say. We had just come from my brother's funeral. He had been killed in a robbery gone wrong. Mama believes that the police officer, who shot my brother, could have handled the robbery diffrently. I told mama that the officer did exactly what he was trained to do in the event of a threat to his life, and others. Do not get me wrong, I am sorry that my brother had to meet this fate; however, he should not have been trying to harm others by forcefully taking something that did not belong to him.

I remember saying "Randall, you need to give your life to Jesus." It was about a week before his death when I told him this, now he is gone. From the looks of things, Randall did not take my advise to give his life to the Lord. I cannot even imagine that he would have been robbing that bank if he had truly, sincerely given his life to Jesus. His heart would have been changed. He would have been praying for those who rob banks, instead of committing robberies.

The moral to this story is, when the Lord speaks to you through others who witness, and spread the gospel, you should listen. This just might be the last call you have to salvation. When Jesus knocks, open the door of your heart, and let Him in. You will be so glad you did. God bless you.
