Calls Us Friends

Many could easily form several short lists: email friends, family, networking contacts, business associates and intimate friends. I'm not sure how popular the desk top Rolodex is today. At one time the more flipping of cards and faster knobs were turned the more influential the boss became! We are blessed to know Jesus calls us friends. (John 15:13-15) We confide in friends, enjoy their company, and lean on them in times of sorrow and stress. Friendship is a two sided coin. Friends confide in us, long to be together, and can turn to us in hours of trouble. Jesus calls us friends. Will we be faithful? It is difficult to understand how the Creator of the universe, the Almighty God could desire friendship with rebellious man. Yet, God seems to find deep pleasure and pride in a good friend. "But you, Israel are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the descendants of Abraham My friend (Isaiah 41:8 NKJ)." Jesus brother James knew very well about that friendship. "And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. And he was called the friend of God (James 2:23 NKJ)." A true friend believes in you when others walk away. Abraham loyally loved his Lord and best friend.
