Brown xmas
by Emenike Iwuala

The rains has halted

And the wetness away with it

Leafs on trees turned brown

So is the shrub, brown with it

All of vegetation gets this brown feel with it

The wind with a little less moisture

Caresses the skin with its gentle force

The soil returns most moisture to the skies

Thereby tinting itself brown

Turbulent waters now retained within their banks

Floods gone with it

Xmass in the tropics

Brown, its favorite color

Almost like the unique color of our skin

Brown Xmass

The feeling of festivity in the air

Can't help but feel this brown feel of Xmass in the air

This feeling of love in the air

A season to show love, share love, and be loved

Share love this Xmass

Masquerades in beautiful brown costumes displaying our own version of Santa

It's such a lovely setting

Our Xmass,

The browner, the better

Wherever you may be

Brown Xmass in Umunakara

Brown Xmass in Enugu

Brown Xmass in Lagos

Brown Xmass in Abuja

Brown Xmass in Accra

Towards the end of each Xmass

I always wish I could get

Another feel

Another breath

Another chance

Another of my dearly cherished

Brown Xmass.
