Heart and Soul
by PamFord Davis

Commitment seems to be pledged less and less. Temporary better describes relationships between husband and wife, and employer and employee. Signing on the bottom line for a long term contract is seen as radical. We fear we might get stuck in an arrangement with no way of escape. Trial marriages and temporary staffing is seen as a safe bet. We miss out on the blessings of commitment and lasting relationships.

God does not settle for a fleeting fancy. "Listen, Israel! The Lord our God is the only true God! So love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:4-5 CEV)." Jesus quoted this as the greatest commandment. (Matthew 22:37-38) Don't hold back. Make a firm commitment. No loop-holes are needed. You will not want a release from the contract. Your heart and soul will be touched by grace.
