Puff the Magic Dragon
by PamFord Davis A child's fascination with dragons begins at an early age. Boys especially are awed by fairy tales of knights in shining armor slaying fire breathing dragons. Damsels in distress are rescued; and the knight is honored and praised by all. In the teen years many boys read books and become involved in games focusing on dragons. Clothing and collectibles feature dragons of many shapes and sizes. One dragon even made it to the top of the record charts with Peter, Paul and Mary's Puff the Magic Dragon. The over sized lizard is a very dark character in scripture. "Something else appeared in the sky. It was a huge red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and a crown on each of its seven heads. With its tail, it dragged a third of the stars from the sky and threw them down to the earth (Revelation 12:3-4 CEV)." The dragon met its match. "A war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels were fighting against the dragon and its angels. But the dragon lost the battle. It and its angels were forced out of their places in heaven and were thrown down to the earth. Yes, that old snake and his angels were thrown out of heaven! That snake, who fools everyone on earth, is known as the devil and Satan (Revelation 13:7-9 CEV)." Be encouraged, good triumphs over evil.
