Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast
by PamFord Davis

"Mother, May I"? No, those are not the words of a polite child, but a repeated phrase from a childhood game. The leader gives instructions on how many steps forward you can go, baby steps or giant steps. I do not remember the rules, but know I asked that question more times than I could count at that tender age. Each step I advanced brought me closer to the goal.

Walking is no easy task; babies must first learn how to balance their body and wobbly legs. Parents encourage the infants by holding hands, increasing their confidence until they are able to walk on their own.

As God's children, we learn to walk by faith. "I took Israel by the arm and taught them to walk. But they would not admit that I was the one who had healed them. I led them with kindness and with love, not with ropes. I held them close to me; I bent down to feed them (Hosea 11:3-4 CEV)." We desire to follow in His steps.
