Mentor
by Unami Magwenzi Mentor, will you be my mentor? Will you let me follow you? And watch what you do? And do as you do? Will you be my mentor? I really need a mentor, Someone I can call and talk to, A teacher, an adviser, trusted counselor. As I watch you I will see your strengths, I will marvel and I will copy, I will see your weaknesses too, And I will learn from your mistakes. When people see me and wonder, How I managed to pick myself up, How it is I stood up from my fall, And dusted off the dirt, and held my head up high, Then I will say 'I have a mentor' When things get tough they say 'hold on'.
