Watching Scotty Grow
by PamFord Davis God has a green thumb; if He plants us, we shouldl grow! I can only imagine what the Garden of Eden must have looked like. If the garden club did a judging, all future residents living close by would have a very hard act to follow. Maybe God selected a special tree, to measure the spiritual growth of Adam and Eve. The Father could record the couple's actions of spiritual growth. Did they measure up to a perfect goal with a notch on their tree? Following their willful sin, the tree would be a visible reminder of His perfect plan and their rebellion. He lovingly watches each life for signs of growth. "But I will bless those who trust me. They will be like trees growing beside a stream-trees with roots that reach down to the water, and with leaves that are always green. They bear their fruit every year and are never worried by a lack of rain (Jeremiah 17:7-8 CEV)." The Lord wins a blue ribbon for His green thumb!
