Knowing God
by Deborah Morrison Knowing of God and knowing God are two different things. Many may not want to know God because they think that they might have to let go of things or people, might have to stop doing certain things and/or they are just not ready. Let me share with you, when you know God, change will come without you even realizing it. Knowing God is knowing what He expects of you and what you can expect of Him. Just like when you start a new job. Your Manager tells you what is expected of you (duties and responsibilities) and if you don't perform, there are consequences. You also attend new employee orientation where you find out what to expect of your employer (benefits). Well, the only way to find out what God expects of you and what to expect of God is by reading your Bible. "Jesus replied, "Your problem is that you don't know the Scriptures, and you don't know the power of God."" Matthew 22:29 If you want to be a doctor, engineer, lawyer, mechanic, journalist, accountant, etc. you have to study. Then you apply what you learned in your profession. In the same way, if you want to know God, you have to study your Bible then apply what you learned in your life. "All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 I challenge you! Get to know God. You have nothing to lose but much to gain. This is not like the lottery where you can win or lose. With God, you are always a winner! Experience God's love here and now!
