Gift Card
by PamFord Davis

The wheels in our minds are beginning to whirl as we consider what gifts to buy for those on our Christmas list. Some people are so efficient and organized that they have purchased items throughout the year and merely need to gift-wrap, tag and hide away until Christmas Day. Multitudes will wait until the last minute and frantically search for something that will suffice and meet their obligations. In recent years, my husband and I have turned to gift-card presents for loved ones.

I have heard interesting reports about the increase in popularity of gift-cards. It is always difficult to find the perfect gift and this gives the receiver the opportunity to buy what they like. If we know where they frequently shop, eat or purchase gasoline to fuel their vehicles, we have a marked advantage. We simply purchase a card at that location for a specific amount, place it in a Christmas greeting card and address it to them. They have only one limitation; they cannot exceed the cash amount specified.

God's gift provision for me has no cutoff amounts. "Now glory be to God who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of-infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes (Ephesians 3:20 Living Bible)." He loves each of his children and delights in giving through remarkable blessings that surprise us. We know no other explanation than he is all-powerful and gives abundantly. He gave the perfect gift, his Son and he never disappoints us!
