Abbreviated Glory
by PamFord Davis The choice of a child's name is official at the signing and registering of their birth certificate. The months of mulling over a list of possible names are over; their legal name is in black and white, a notary seals the document and the parents store the original copy in a secured place. And, what will you name the child? God the Father beamed and proudly proclaimed, "He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6b HCS)." Imagine a registrar's predicament, that lengthy name will not fit in the allotted space on the certificate. How can God almighty abbreviate glory? "She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21 HCS)." Jesus the name flows with eloquence from called and ordained lips, we barely hear it above a whisper when voiced in prayer and all will confess the holder as Savior and Lord!
