Expecting
by PamFord Davis Expectant mothers expect to add about thirty pounds. She prepares a nursery, a suitcase and a diaper bag. After the natural progression of growth of both her and her child, she expects sudden labor pains and a nervous daddy or taxi driver to rush her to the hospital. Most importantly, she expects to bring home a bundle of joy. I'm expecting an arrival and a departure. I'm getting ready. "No one knows, however, when that day and hour will come-neither the angels in heaven nor the Son; the Father alone knows (Matthew 24:36 TEV)." I will see Jesus in his arrival or at my departure. Readiness is the expected response. "So then, you must always be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him (Matthew 24:44 TEV)." I want to be ready and waiting. I expect great joy! I expect to see Jesus face-to-face, and I expect the end of sin, sickness and suffering. My bundle of joy is gift wrapped by the giver of eternal life.
