Contraband
by Olawale Ogunsola In 1994 or thereabouts, a training course was organised in London that attracted participants from all parts of the world. A chinese who attended the training programe almost forgot the reasons he was in London. He was carried away by those things that were attractive and possibly cheaper than what obtained in his country. He bought as many "essential commodities" as the money on him could buy. He was satisfied with all the items. Every attempt by others to dissuade him proved abortive. They made him realise that he would need some cash whenever he returned home. All to no avail. At the end of the three month course, every participant was ready to go back to his/her home country. It was then that it dawned on the Chinese that: 1. The money left could not pay for the transportation of the items bought. 2. About three quarter of the load would not be allowed to be imported into his country. They were CONTRABAND goods. What did he do? He separated the legal items from the rest. He then chose those he could pay their fares from those legal items. Others he left behind because nobody wanted to buy them or take them as gifts because they will become burdens. What a pity? What a waste? If that could happen between countries of the world and their citizens, the same holds between Heaven and Earth ( the world) as well as their citizens. Then the Lord Jesus Christ is perfectly right to counsel thus, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Mathew 6:19-21. Do you comply with the above instruction? Failure to do so can be the only reason you live miserably, happy today and sad tomorrow. That may be the reason your joy evaporates. Are you ever satisfied with what you have? Do you think of Heaven? Do you think more of what you can acquire on earth? This may have crowded God out of your heart. What must you do now? Simple, confess, repent and forsake all thoughts, words and deeds of chasing those things you cannot take out of the world. Ask the Lord to forgive you and welcome you home to Himself. Tell Him to become your Lord and Savior NOW and forever. Tell the Lord Jesus that you will live the rest of your life for His glory. You must do this because in Him only is abundant life. Obtain a copy of the Holy Bible to know more on how to lay up treasures for yourself in heaven. Join an assembly of Believers for fellowship. Stop acquiring contraband! Stay blessed and rapturable.
