Breath
by PamFord Davis Have you ever had the breath knocked out of you? I'd imagine there is a medical term for the experience, but doubt it could be more descriptive. I do not recall the details but do vividly remember how afraid I was following a childhood incident. While playing too rough, I hurt myself and was temporarily unable to catch my breath. Mom was not overly concerned and said, "You've just had the breath knocked out of you!" The creator breathed life into Adam. "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being (Genesis 2:7 NKJ)." Apart from breath, man ceases to live in the physical realm. And so it was with the Son of Man "And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last (Luke 15:37 NKJ)." He arose! Suffering may knock the breath out of me; yet, the giver of life waits on the other side.
