Resembles the Father
by PamFord Davis In a family setting, we recently marveled at how uncanny it is that a young man so strongly resembles the father that adopted him. I cannot attribute that to the adoption service or to chance. Instead, I perceive it is a God gift to the family. To this, add the resemblance in godly character. Will he continuously follow his earthly father's example? Maybe he'll even choose the same occupation. Disciples, through faith, follow the Lord God. A lost world is watching. "By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves] (John 13:35 Amplified Bible)." Astonished, they will attribute the love for others to a family resemblance, a definite likeness to our Father. People often comment on how much I look like my Mom and my Aunt Dorothy; yet, I also have many of Dad's features. Oh, that people would see the Father in and through me.
