He Sustains Me
by PamFord Davis I remember an old commercial, but not the product. The theme was "We are what we eat." A woman became a doughnut. I drank so much Hi-C orange drink as a child that Mom warned me I could turn into an orange. That was the basis of a bad nightmare! If this reasoning of the effects of foods holds true, I see the necessity of turning to God's word for nourishment. He sustains me. Jesus is the bread of life. Store bought bread, even homemade offers only physical nourishment. "And when the tempter came to him, he said, 'If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.' But he answered and said, 'It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:3-4 KJV)."
