Something Sacred
by PamFord Davis There is something sacred in the standing face-to-face experience between loved ones. You gaze into each others' eyes and perhaps hold hands. Such was the last time I saw my mother, before her death. We stood only inches apart, united in heart. The LORD etched her warm smile on my memory. The Savior smiles down His favor upon us. Look into His face; gaze into His eyes. Behold, the pools of love endearing you to Him. " looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2a NKJ)." In one instance, Peter experienced remorse as he looked into the eyes of Christ. "And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, 'Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.' So Peter went out and wept bitterly (Luke 22:61-62 NKJ)." Though not written, I believe Peter saw unconditional love and forgiveness in the eyes of his Savior. Face-to-face, he grieved his denial of Jesus.
