A Mourning Person
by PamFord Davis

Are you a morning person? I am; it is my favorite time of the day.

Next question, are you a mourning person? Likely, most of us prefer to be happy, viewing each day as a celebration of life. I don't always have a smile on my face but am not perpetually sorrowful either. In conversations, I perceive three words are triggered reminders of death: mourning, grieving, and sorrow.

In my spiritual growth, I must die to self. 'Joy comes in the mourning.'

"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord; and he will lift you up (James 4:8-10 NKJ)."
