MOTEL NAPKINS

"Come on kids; Dad and I are ready to leave now!" Linzy hollered from the bottom of the stairs. Kyle, Samantha and little Ricky ran quickly down the stairs with their hands full of their favorite possessions and huge smiles on their gleaming faces.

"Thanks so much Mom and Dad for taking us to Boston!" Samantha called out from the back of the van; already clutching her pillow and struggling to get into a comfortable sleeping position.

"You're quite welcome Sweetie; we knew you were really disappointed last year when we couldn't afford to send you on your class trip to Boston," Brian replied.

Samantha closed her eyes; Kyle put his headphones on and little Ricky began reading his favorite book. With the kids settled in for awhile; Linzy's mind started to wander. She stared at the side of her husband's face; recalling countless moments of fun and hilarity. "You know Babe....I've been thinking lately. I started writing when little Ricky was three....the year was 1996... I've got almost twenty stories in my portfolio and I feel like there's nothing left. There's....just.... nothing left in me to write, so I figure I should just focus now on polishing and perfecting what I have and sending out to publishers....the postage and extra large envelopes are the only expense...so it seems like the next logical step...whadaya think?"

"Yeah, that'll work," Brian agreed with his warmest smile.

The last night at their motel; Linzy walked slowly behind her family; taking in a deep breath of the fresh air she'd been dreaming of while the rest of her family enjoyed dinner at one of Boston's popular seafood restaurants, located right off the pier. She stared at her family's back sides thankfully when suddenly she was stricken by a powerful and clear vision that she was certain was coming from God! She picked up her pace and rushed into the room; praying she wouldn't lose any of the vital information He had just "downloaded" into her consciousness.

"Is there any paper around here Brian?" she asked; searching the desk-like table.

"No, why? You're getting an idea! It must be a big one since you thought this part of your life was over!" he replied, with a laugh.

"It is! Well there's no paper so I'll just have to use these napkins," Linzy replied; grabbing a few and running into the bathroom. "Does anyone need to use the facilities before I get to work?" she asked.

"No Mom," the kids replied; giggling.

Linzy stayed in the bathroom for about half an hour and then emerged with a big smile. She carefully put her precious notes into her purse and then sat on the bed; thanking God for the strength and endurance He provided in this motel's napkins.

"You look happy!" Brian said; noticing his wife's glowing expression.

"I'm only on like cloud 99 right now! You're not gonna believe what God has given me to do! First of all He gave me this whole story all at once, so I had to write some fast notes!.....He wants me to use a fictional story about a family wedding for parents to use to help teach their kids about sex HIS WAY! It's clear to me now that many parents are avoiding the subject, which leaves it up to the world's way, or teaching them fairy tales or allowing their embarrassment to dictate and/or confuse them into thinking they need to provide only the mechanical answer to their kids' questions and this story is the perfect ice breaker. It'll be years before the time is right to publish it, but it needs to be written now....I'm so excited to get home and get started! It's so funny how I was just telling you a few days ago that there was nothing left in me to write!" Linzy got right to work as soon as she and her family arrived home.

"Boy that trip to Boston is one I will never forget," she told Brian, as they settled into bed that night.

"So whadaya think now Linzy; is there anything left in you after this to write?" Brian asked; wide-eyed.

"Well....I'm not sure, but I AM sure God will let me know. He always gives everything to me nice and slow....it must be part of His gentleness."

THIS IS A FICTIONAL STORY BASED ON THE TRUE VISION OF THIS WRITER'S EXPERIENCE WITH GOD!
