The Reason
by PamFord Davis

It is definitely something to ponder through prayer

What is my reason?

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear (1 Peter 3:15 KJV)."

I can almost hear an unbeliever's challenge.

'Give me one good reason that I should surrender my life to Christ!'

It may well be easier to explain what I believe than to narrow things down. Do I have a reason for the abiding hope within?

Am I ready to answer?

Are you?

The Apostle Paul boldly shared his beliefs. Some trusted his Lord and Savior; others rejected him. Yet, his persuasiveness was hard to ignore.

"But he said , I am not mad , most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely : for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner. King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest . Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. And Paul said , I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds (Acts 26:25-29 KJV)."

Jesus is not only 'the reason for the season,' (Christmas). He is the reason for my hope; my faith & hope are inseparable.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for , the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh . By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found , because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony , that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is , and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:1-6 KJV)."
