The Struggle Within Me
by David Rester

I grow weary of the struggle
And times of shame, when I fail.
You call me to high, holy places;
I have been given fear of stumbling,
As I ascend to the heights from which You call.

Fear fills my heart in abundance,
As I look to Your lofty place;
And realize the distance I have climbed,
Now can become a great and mighty fall.
Although Your Spirit fills my heart with strength,
I struggle under the weight of this body of death.

And there is one who pursues me relentlessly,
Causing me missteps and non-lethal falls.
Then in moments of failures, he taunts me,
" It would be easier to descend."
But yet I know Your eyes are upon me;
And Your Spirit adds too, and feeds my hope.

How long, Father, must I struggle to climb,
Carrying this body of sinful flesh?
Continually calling out to others to follow,
As the evil one attempts to drag me down.
I pray Jesus, take my hand, lifting me up;
That I might find rest, back home with You.
Father give me Your strength! Amen.

From the day I responded to God's calling, accepting His love, by repenting, and accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord (all through Him, His love, and GRACE); He has continued to grow our relationship, revealing all He desires, for me to know and share. All glory and praise being my Father's---- GOD!
